Colour company Pantone has released its Fall 2009 Fashion Color Report. Pantone surveys the designers of New York Fashion Week to collect information on prominent colours and uses this to generate its season report.
The 2009 autumn palette consists of ten colours across a broad spectrum. For the patriotic US market there are American Beauty red and Purple Heart, two colours that make an interesting combination when used together. Another exciting colour is Honey Yellow, a slightly more subdued version of Mimosa which Pantone declared 2009’s colour of the year.
Three colours that I expect to make an appearance in the jeans market are the “neutrals”: Iron (”the new black” – another one?), Creme Brulee (greyish beige) and Nomad (somewhere between beige and light grey).
Four more autumnal colours complete the fall 2009 palette: Burnt Sienna, Rapture Rose, Warm Olive and Majolica Blue.
